POWER OF CHTULHU. PERFORMANCE. COMMISSION.
Video installation, choreography, soundscape, fictional characters, nightclub intervention.
Created for Kvit Skit’s release party at Østre, POWER OF CHTULHU unfolded as a slow-moving fiction inhabiting the nightclub for an entire evening. Three characters occupied the venue according to their own internal logic, never announcing themselves as performers and never resolving into narrative.
One character embodied the sea, lingering at the bar with a beer, a treasure chest, and a jar of aloe vera gel as though washed ashore from another world. Another remained almost exclusively inside the women’s restroom, inviting strangers to share their secrets in quiet conversations away from the dance floor. Throughout the night, the performers repeatedly returned to a triangle marked on the floor, where subtle choreographic actions transformed an ordinary dance space into a temporary ritual site.
Accompanied by video, sound, and the fragmented mantra “Glitter is wet, but not everything wet is moving,” the work embraced associative logic over explanation. Meaning emerged through repetition, chance encounters, and the accumulation of small, peculiar gestures that quietly unsettled the familiar rhythms of the club.
Rather than interrupting the party, POWER OF CHTULHU infiltrated it. The performance unfolded through atmosphere, lingering presences, and fleeting exchanges, allowing fiction to circulate between bodies, rumours, and the night’s collective imagination.
