CHANGE reimagines Tears for Fears’ 1983 pop classic as a hallucinatory music video where nostalgia slowly dissolves into something stranger. A singing face struggles to emerge from shifting layers of paint, never quite reaching the surface, never fully in sync with the song. Glowing fungi, liquid textures, and fluorescent colours spread through the image as if the music itself had started to grow.
Hovering between homage, parody, and pop séance, the work treats the original song as a living organism rather than a fixed composition. Familiar lyrics drift through an unstable visual landscape where identity remains unfinished, continuously slipping between masks, surfaces, and psychedelic mutation.
Released on online platforms, CHANGE circulates like a distorted pop memory, at once instantly recognisable and pleasantly off. Somewhere between fan video, fever dream, and music television, the work invites viewers to surrender to the seductive weirdness of repetition and reinvention.
